Shira Yevin is an Entrepreneur, Artist, Activist, and Founder of Gritty In Pink. Shira studied Communications and Theatre Arts at the University of Pennsylvania. She’s been a speaker at SXSW and featured in Billboard, Alternative Press, NPR, The New York Times, and Forbes. After forming her all-female band Shiragirl Shira became known for advocating for women in male-dominated spaces. The band crashed the Vans Warped Tour and created the Shiragirl Stage, which hosted 300+ female artists including the rock icons Joan Jett and Paramore, and was featured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While touring the country playing music, Shira also built a career in the beverage industry; she held executive roles in marketing and sales for iconic brands from Pabst Blue Ribbon to startups such as Bev, which she helped launch in its earliest days.
In January 2020, Shira launched a new female-led platform to empower women within the music industry called Gritty In Pink. On a mission to achieve gender equality in the music industry and beyond, Gritty In Pink has featured 250+ emerging artists with 27M collective followers on IG/TikTok. The platform has partnered with 20+ organizations, from Fender to ACLU, having raised thousands of dollars for charities with their Instagram Live fundraisers. The Gritty In Pink community continues to grow as the company launches its new online marketplace INPINK, connecting the music industry to a community of diverse female creatives and pros. The company recently graduated from the prestigious Long Beach Accelerator, which invests in growing startups, partnered with Strategic Investor Live Nation, and brought on Strategic Advisor Melissa Etheridge -- who declared, “The future of music is female!”
